Chips Travel to Montgomery!
January 27, 2022
Over the course of the Martin Luther King holiday, a group of Chipmunks traveled to Alabama to admire, discuss, and educate themselves on the historical trials and experiences of our Black leaders. These students visited the Freedom Rides Museum, the Rosa Parks Museum, the Legacy Museum, and the National Memorial for Peace and Justice.
Freshman Molly Thornton discusses her decision to take this trip by stating, “I wanted to go on this trip to become more educated on civil rights and people of color as I feel they aren’t acknowledged as much as they should be. I hoped to gain a better understanding of civil rights as well as create friendships with people who have the same interests and views as me.”
We hope our Chips enjoyed their experience visiting these historical locations! We admire their devotion to social justice.
