Thalians Present(ed): A Comedy of Errors
December 20, 2018
This semester, the Chapelle Thalians presented The Comedy of Errors. This was the club’s first performance of a Shakespearean play, and it was incredible! Each actress gave a stunning performance of the script’s witty humor, and there was no dull moment on stage. The characters were each so unique and enjoyable that the audience could not help but immerse themselves in the story.
In case you missed it, the synopsis of the play is there are two sets of twins who keep getting mistaken for each other. This confusion spawns many amusing moments like when Antipholus of Ephesus (sophomore Hannah Hauck) and Dromio of Ephesus (sophomore Amber Corb) are forcibly bound by an officer (eighth grader Bella Carbo) and the doctor, Pinch (senior Madison Smith), upon the orders of Antipholus’ wife (sophomore Kate Dantagnan). Many audience members expressed that one of their favorite parts of this performance was watching Madison Smith try to restrain Hannah Hauck only from the waist down. To make this scene even weirder, seconds later Antipholus of Syracuse (sophomore Emily LaCour) and Dromio of Syracuse (sophomore Abby Hudson), the twins of the aforementioned Antipholus and Dromio, charge on stage with “naked swords” to scare off the other cast members.
I wish I could tell you about other great scenes from this play, but this article would be way too long! Seriously, if you did not come see this show you missed out! Congratulations to the spectacular cast, crew and producers/directors, Ms. Butera and Mrs. Montemurro.
Thalians will also be producing a musical (Schoolhouse Rock) next semester. If you have any questions about auditioning, please contact Ms. Butera or Mrs. Montemurro.
